Book MOT Dyce with Colins Tyres

Has your vehicle completed three years since its first registration?

This means, from now on, it must undergo a mandatory MOT test every twelve months.

Welcome to Colins Tyres, one of the best-reviewed MOT Testing Centres for MOT Dyce located at Farburn Terrace Dyce AB21 7DT.

What Is An MOT Inspection?

According to the DVSA, vehicles that have completed 3 years after its initial registration must undergo yearly MOT inspections. This test or certification determines whether your vehicle is safe to be driven on public roads.

Failure to renew an MOT licence can lead to hefty penalties, up to £1000.

Note: If your MOT licence has already expired, you are only allowed to drive to an MOT test centre. You must have prove for the booking though.

The DVSA subdivides vehicles into 5 classes namely:

Class 1: Two-wheeler motorbikes and motorcycles up to 200 cc.

Class 2: Motorbikes and motorcycles above 200 cc and/or with sidecars.

Class 4: Up to 8-seater passenger cars and all types of 3-wheeled vehicles

Class 5: 13–16-seater private vehicles and ambulances

Class 7: All commercial vehicles (up to 3500 kg gross)

At Colins Tyres, we inspect and certify all the above-mentioned classes and vehicles to ensure that they remain road-legal.

Our MOT Dyce Inspection And Certification

At our facility, we inspect all the components required by the DVSA for a fair and genuine certification. Some of the components we mandatorily inspect:

  • Bonnet
  • Tyres
  • Horn
  • Exhaust
  • Internal and external lights
  • Wirings
  • Brakes
  • Windscreen
  • Number plates
  • Seatbelts
  • Suspension
  • Emission test
  • Structural integrity of your vehicle, and more.

After the inspection, we issue either of these 2 certificates:

VT20: We issue this certificate if, after our thorough inspection, we find that your vehicle is functioning within its optimum capacity and is safe to be driven. A VT20 can also be issued with minor issues present. Then a so-called advisory note will be attached. The faults must be rectified before the next test.

VT30: This indicates a failed test. If after our inspection, we identify major/dangerous issues, we must issue a VT30 certificate which lists all issues. All of them must be rectified and a partial retest has to be carried out before a VT20 can be issued.

Pro Tip: To avoid MOT failure, visit our MOT & service centre Dyce for a quick pre-MOT inspection or a service.
